Reclassification of Active Ingredient DMPT

the chemical N,N-dimethyl-p-toluidine (DMPT) has been used since the first inception of instant adhesive activators and was seen as the best option for accelerating cure times of CA adhesives. New legislation has reclassified this chemical as a carcinogen, resulting in updated labelling requirements effective from September 2025. Products containing DMPT must comply with new criteria for labelling, wording, and accompanying hazard pictograms.

GHS06 Skull and Crossbones

As DMPT is classified as a Category 1B carcinogen from September, the sale of products containing this chemical that bear the CLP label with the GHS06 hazard pictogram is prohibited for consumer sale.

GHS08 Health Hazard

In response to recent research highlighting the potential risks associated with this chemical, we have decided to revise our formulation. As part of this process, we reviewed our initial activator formulation to minimize exposure to hazardous substances by identifying safer active ingredients that are non-hazardous. While warning labels remain on the product, these are solely related to the solvent carriers required for the application process and do not indicate altered safety concerns regarding the active ingredients themselves.
